In
a typical environment, you should run this program at least once every week or
two depending on your computer usage.
First, Open the “SpyBot Search & Destroy” Program by double clicking
the icon on the desktop, or through the start menu.
Before using this program, it is necessary to update the programs “definition” files so it can scan for the latest threats. To do this, click the “Search for Updates” button to be taken to the updates section. During this process, spybot will connect to the internet and check which updates are available.
Next, pick an update server by clicking the button and selecting a server from the drop down

Of course, the next step is to click “Download updates”
and let the program download the updates. The amount of time will vary depending on your internet connection
speed.

Next, Immunizing your system is an important part in preventing future Spyware problems. This can easily be done by clicking the Immunize Icon on the left side (1), If you are told to immunize by a pop up error message (2), click ok, then you can click the Immunize plus sign (3) near the top of the window.

Finally, click the Search
and Destory Icon on the top left, and then click the “Check for Problems”

After the scan is complete, Click the “Fix Selected Problem” button. Then, click YES to the confirmation of removal box.

After SpyBot has completed, You will be prompted that a number of items were removed, and you can close the program.
If problems continue, it may be necessary to run the program multiple times. Also, if you are prompted to run spybot on your system’s next boot because items are present in memory, select to allow the operation, reboot your computer, and wait for spybot to finish running.
